Who is eligible to use it?

This service is only available to rural pharmacy owners in true emergencies.
Example: The death of a pharmacist, spouse or family member; or
Personal emergency such as sickness or accident.

With the shortage of qualified pharmacists, especially in rural areas, communities were finding themselves frequently without a pharmacy to dispense vital medication. Rural community pharmacies were frequently closing due to sickness or other emergencies.

Pharmacies are considered an essential service, therefore the Federal Government found a solution in the form of the introduction of ELS to service Rural Australia.
